Danita Hill (she/her)

Manager of Philanthropic Prospect Development | 

Children's Mercy Kansas City

Danita earned her BA in Psychology, with an emphasis in Early Childhood from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas (where she landed after her dad's last assignment and which she has utilized in raising two children and five dogs). She enjoys the chaos of four grandbabies and two quirky pups, gardening, reading a good novel, a great glass of wine, dabbling in writing the next best-seller and traveling with her husband of more than 40 years, Charlie. Danita looks forward to contributing to the continued growth and opportunities that Apra MoKan has to offer its membership as part of the board.


Jen Kiper (she/her)


Director of Prospect Management| UMKC Foundation                                          

Jen is Director of Prospect Management at UMKC Foundation and works closely with the Major Giving team to identify and manage prospects since joining the team in 2019.

As a graduate of the MPA program at UMKC's Bloch School, she is excited to play a part in supporting UMKC's mission via philanthropy. In her free time, she enjoys playing pub trivia with friends, volunteering with local music nonprofits, and spending time with her wife, Trisha, and their pets.


Alisa Baumer (she/her)


Associate Directory of Prospect Research | 

Washington University in St. Louis

Alisa is Associate Director of Prospect Research at Washington University in St. Louis, where she focuses on identification, pre-qualification, in-depth research and analysis of corporate, foundation, association and organizational partners for the Medical Advancement Corporate & Foundation Relations team. She rejoined Washington University in 2007 as a Senior Prospect Research Analyst before being named Assistant Director in 2021, working with the advancement teams of the Olin Business School, Planned Giving, University Initiatives and International Advancement, managing prospect identification and research needs for those teams. She began her career in prospect research as a part-time Corporate & Foundation Relations researcher for the Danforth Corporate & Foundation Relations team at Washington University in 2000 before working as a grant writer, researcher and editor for a business and manufacturing not for profit partnership based in Rolla, Missouri. 

Alisa holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lindenwood University and a Master of Arts from Webster University. A lifelong St. Louisan, Alisa loves going to concerts, movies, visiting thrift/vintage shops, live theatre and spending time outdoors, especially at one of her favorite spots in the city, Forest Park.

Rebecca Cavanaugh (she/her)


Prospect Development Analyst | University of Missouri-Columbia


Rebecca has worked in prospect research and fundraising for more than 20 years. In a previous life, she was a reference librarian who oversaw collection development for foreign languages and coordinated the information literacy program. 

She earned her BA in Classics and French, an MA in Classics, and an MA in Library and Information Science. She loves reading, a logical/linear organizational system of any sort, museums, plants, butterflies, and rocks of all kinds. She has been happily married to Ian for more than 20 years and they enjoy spending time with their daughter. Rebecca is a self-professed cat lady.

Bill Elam (he/him)

Assistant Director of Advancement Services | A.T. Still University 

Bill is Assistant Director of Advancement Services at A.T. Still University.  After working in banking and lending for 16 years, he transitioned to the non-profit sector as a Prospect Development and Business Analyst in January 2024, and was promoted to his current position in March 2025.  In his new position he is responsible for gift processing and management, donor related tasks, reporting, stewardship, Power BI development, and wearing many other “hats” (both figuratively and literally as a man who likes a nice hat) within his department. 

Bill earned a BA in Business Management and Marketing and an MA in Accounting at Truman State University.  Bill has a family that includes his wife of 9 years, an enthusiastic 7-year-old child, an energetic Blue Heeler, and one demanding cat.  When time allows, he enjoys relaxing with friends, going on weekend adventures, grilling on one of his many Weber grills, and sitting around the fire pit.

Scotland Lamb (she/her)

Senior Director of Data Sciences | Wichita State University Foundation and Alumni Engagement

Scotland works for the WSU Foundation and Alumni Engagement, where she leads the Data Sciences team, a department comprised of research, relationship management, and data integrity. While she has been a part of the non-profit fundraising world for eight years, she fell into the prospect development world six years ago and cannot imagine a better fit for her career.

Scotland earned her BAs in Economics and Public Relations, along with her MBA, from Kansas State University where she played Division 1 gold. She stays busy with her young child and two golden retrievers. In her limited free time, she enjoys traveling and doing anything outdoors (except in the sweltering Kansas heat!). Scotland is excited to serve on the Apra MoKan board!

Sam Volkman (she/her)

Portfolio and Research Analyst | Kansas State University Foundation


Sam Volkman is a Portfolio and Research Analyst at the Kansas State University Foundation and has been in the field of higher education advancement for ten years.  As a first-generation college graduate from small-town Kansas, she is grateful to work at an organization that benefits her alma mater and keeps her connected to the community she now calls home.  She delights in connecting the dots between prospects and opportunities to effect meaningful change, helping development officers find their unique recipe to success, and refining her skills in process improvement and change management.  She lives with her wife and their many pets, and loves to spend time outdoors, practice yoga, and read.
